Alignment with our vision

Donating supports our mission to preserve and enhance recreational spaces, protect wildlife habitat, and expand accessible opportunities for all to experience nature’s restorative benefits for body and mind.

Logistical

The trail system, built without dedicated funding from homeowners' associations or local taxes, urgently needs sustainable financial support for ongoing maintenance, infrastructure upgrades and signage, to preserve access and ensure long-term stewardship.

The Trail is Core to Our Community

The Uncompahgre River Way connects Ridgway town park to other communities such as the Dennis Weaver Memorial, provides safe access for bikers to the RAT trail. Easy access to BLM Recreation site has shelters and facilities that allow for gatherings. It is also a nature trail that offers accessible opportunities for physical activity, mental restoration, and environmental learning; by bringing people into direct contact with native plants, wildlife, and seasonal changes, it fosters stewardship, builds community, and supports biodiversity while providing a low-cost, inclusive space for recreation, education, and quiet reflection.

Our needs are real

Our longtime volunteer of 30 years is retiring from his responsibilities; grass needs mowing, weeds need controlled and small costs like fuel add up while big expenses — new tools and infrastructure upgrades — are now necessary. After three decades, the trails and structures are in need of attention. The tress have grown enough to require professional tree services.. Tools, donated machinery need repair or replacement. Fencing needs repair, stain, straightening. The bridge requires a fresh coat of stain about every three years. Equipment storage is needed as it is currently spread out around Montrose and Ouray counties. Our list is long but our daily pleasures make the effort well worth while.
